A Little About Me
Hi, I'm Mohamed Ibrahim. I'm a Computer Science student at the University of Toronto, specializing in Software Engineering. I enjoy building reliable, user-focused software and working across backend systems, developer tooling, and full-stack applications. I'm especially interested in solving technical problems that improve how people build, manage, and interact with software.
Most recently, I worked as a Full-Stack Software Engineer Intern at Mozilla, contributing to Nimbus and Experimenter, Mozilla's experimentation platform. My work included building cross-platform configuration validation tooling, rebuilding experiment results workflows with Django and HTMX, implementing a dedicated rollout state machine, and contributing to the Rust Nimbus SDK.
I've also worked at Marsatek and Civiconnect, where I built full-stack applications and backend services using technologies such as Spring Boot, React, and PostgreSQL. Outside of work, I've built projects like PaperTrail, an automated receipt ingestion and organization platform, and Temp Tracker, an environmental data tracking application.
Outside of tech, I'm into running and lifting, both of which keep me focused and disciplined. I'm always looking for opportunities to take on challenging problems, grow as an engineer, and build software that is not only functional, but meaningful.
My Professional Journey
Here's a look at my professional experiences and the impact I've made
Full Stack Software Engineer
MozillaDuring my internship at Mozilla, I worked on Nimbus and Experimenter, Mozilla's experimentation platform, with a focus on improving how teams create, manage, and analyze experiments and rollouts. I built a versioned targeting-context pipeline that pulled definitions from Firefox Desktop, Android, and iOS source repositories so configurations could be validated against the fields supported by each platform. I also rebuilt the Experiment Results page with Django and HTMX, introduced daily, weekly, and overall metric views, and improved the surrounding navigation and backend data flow. Another major part of my work was separating rollouts from the existing experiment flow by creating a standalone rollout experience and implementing a dedicated state machine for managing transitions between Draft, Preview, Live, Paused, and Complete. I also contributed to the Rust Nimbus SDK by fixing inconsistent enrollment-event telemetry across mobile and desktop platforms.
Software Developer
MarsatekAt Marsatek, I worked on a berth-planning system using Java, Spring Boot, React, and PostgreSQL. My work focused on building backend services, REST APIs, and CSV and Excel import workflows with validation, dynamic repository lookup, and reflection-based dat mapping. I also contributed to testing and improving how operational scheduling data moved between the frontend, backend, and database.
Web Development Associate
CiviconnectDeveloped and deployed responsive web applications using React, Next.js, Tailwind, and Strapi, optimizing user engagement for small to medium-sized businesses. Conducted website performance assessments, leading to a 25% improvement in key metrics. Additionally, completed over 40 hours of technical and soft skills training, enhancing problem-solving and project efficiency.
What I've Built
A collection of projects that showcase my journey in software development
GLOW | TempTracker
Developed a full-stack web application for community-driven environmental temperature monitoring featuring CSV data upload, interactive map visualization with Leaflet.js, and a badge system rewarding user engagement. Implemented secure authentication, role-based access control, and profile management using React/TypeScript, Node.js/Express, and Supabase. Utilized Agile methodologies with weekly sprints, successfully processing 10,000+ temperature data points from diverse geographic locations
Technologies Used
Planetze
Developed an Android app that helps users track and reduce their carbon footprint, featuring daily emissions monitoring, goal tracking, and sustainability resources.
